The Navarrete study (2007, attached) demonstrates that the Reagena POC Puumala IgM test efficiently detects Andes hantavirus infections, despite the assay having been originally developed for Puumala virus infections.
This identification is based on the high cross-reactivity between antibodies against these two hantaviruses.
