Tick-Borne Encephalitis Infections Detected in South Karelia Earlier than Usual

The Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yle) released news on Thursday 24th of July 2014 concerning tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) virus infections in South Karelia, Finland. It has been reported that there have been three confirmed cases of TBE infections in South Karelia since the beginning of June, although the usual yearly period for most of the detected and reported tick-born diseases is in the end of Nordic summer.

According to Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) there have been altogether 13 reported cases of TBE infections in Finland since the beginning of June 2014.
